Hello everyone! The Sin of Deflective Behavior, Deflection! My sister and I were having a conversation today about a situation we are in where deflection is being skillfully used over and over again. Deflection in our situation is being used to avoid taking responsibility for their actions and to avoid blame.

Avoiding blame:
Deflection is often used to avoid taking responsibility for your own actions, especially mistakes or errors.
We have had multiple conversations with individuals in an organization who know what they’ve done but refuse to take any type of responsibility for their actions. Instead they constantly change the topic or divert the conversation in a direction that had nothing to do with what we were discussing. Oftentimes when they walk away we feel like, what just happened?
They were totally ignoring what we are saying and the questions we are asking. This is the art of deflection and it is devious and wrong. The world standard these days is never take responsibility for my actions. Especially if I am wrong. Stay the course and deflect, deflect, deflect, and deflect some more. Never tell the truth!
Say anything but don’t take responsibility, and do not tell the truth. Leave everyone scratching their heads trying to figure out what’s going on? Leave them questioning themselves and what they know to be the facts and truth. Be skillful at the art of deflection. This behavior is ungodly and wrong.
Followers of Jesus Christ this is not our standard. This standard belongs to the world. This behavior is a sin before God. It is deceptive and many times requires one to lie to avoid the truth at all cost. This is sinful behavior and we do not practice sinful behavior. We own our actions and accept our poor decisions. Even if we didn’t intend any harm we must accept responsibility when we are responsible. The truth will set you free. Free of guilt and condemnation, tell the truth, let it go and let God Bless You. Be free indeed, “Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever: the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:34-36 ESV
